Discourse and the construction of public problems represent the main focus of research interests in this laboratory. Analyses follow the dynamics of public problems in terms of actors and interactions – diachronically, and in terms of communicational strategies – synchronically. Two particular empirical areas are favoured: a) migration and the status of diaspora as a public problem constructed at the intersection between media and institutional discourses and b) cultural identities, public memory and their integration at various scales (national, transnational, global), at the intersection between mediatization and commodification as metaprocesses of modernity.
